Our Company
Kaufen is a goth-owned clothing company that was conceptualized in December 2019 by two female-identifying, internationally active DJs based in Toronto. We firmly believe in inclusivity and a passion for the music that has shaped our subculture.
DJ Mistress McCutchan is a full-time designer whose career has evolved from graphic design to web design to user experience design. She holds an MFA from Parsons School of Design and her aesthetic is inspired by deathrock, Victoriana, and drag.
DJ HATE Mior is a Vogue published designer who has instructed at the Oxford School of Corsetry in England and is passionate about ethical manufacturing in Canada.
HATE Mior formally left the company in May 2021 in order to focus full time on her main business, Bone & Busk. We love her work and wish her the best.
Our Process
We are a small batch design team that source ethically and produce in Canada. Our designs are inspired by our experiences, travels, and the music we are passionate about.
We believe in keeping our supply chain short and support domestic manufacturing to aid in fair wages, economic stimulation, and a responsibility to the environment.
We choose to use responsible fabrics because we want to see our planet survive beyond the ruthless destruction that has been wrecked upon it for generations before us. We believe as consumers, we have the power to break the cycle of exploitation and want to be a part of the solution.
